The exhibition Antoine Caron. The Theatre of History

The exhibition Antoine Caron (1521-1599). The Theatre of History, which is currently being held at the Musée national de la Renaissance-château d'Écouen until 3 July, aims to bring a somewhat forgotten artist back into the limelight.
Caron was nevertheless one of the prominent figures of the 16th century, working for all the French monarchs, from François I to Henri IV, as well as the queen mother Catherine de Médicis.
The exhibition journey is intended to be monographic and above all thematic, evoking the versatility of the painter's profession.
For this occasion, paintings, drawings, engravings, sculpture, books have been gathered, and above all the eight tapestries of The Valois Wall Hanging, commissioned by Catherine de Médicis, and which had not been seen together since the Renaissance.

Fleurs de vent /wind flowers

Musée de Gravelines
Until August 27, 2023

Hyun Jeung was born in 1968 and grew up in South Korea, before coming to France in 1990 and obtaining a doctorate in plastic arts at the University Paris I, Panthéon-Sorbonne.
She also studied at the Beaux-Arts de Paris, with Jean-Pierre Pincemin who familiarized her to carborundum (silicon carbide) printmaking.
She finally explored woodblock printing in various workshops in Pekon.True engraver, the artist interprets freely the tradition of landscape and korean calligraphy in print.
In the style of ancient masters, Hyun Jeung combines the elements of landscape, integrates the calligraphic sign and reveals the poetry of the world. A flower is not a flower, it is the wind, the shadow and the light.
